As always, the best hostelry for miles and beyond! Amazingly friendly and competent staff. Excellent food with vegan and GF choices including Sunday roasts! The are good choices of alcoholic, low and non alcoholic beverages. Nothing is ever too much trouble and even our family dogs enjoy a visit!

Grilled halloumi seemed fried (quite greasy) otherwise great

We had a wonderful meal recently, so made a return visit. What a contrast! So disappointing! The main courses took extra long to arrive but seemed not to have been freshly cooked. The veg had been reheated, kept warm and/or overcooked. All soft and totally unappetising. The mussels were similarly overcooked and were drowning in liquid - quite unlike the delicious, lightly cooked ones served on our previous visit. Does it depend on which day of the week is chosen, whether the meal is great or disappointing?

Had the salmon from the Specials Board on Monday and wanted it again on Tuesday as I enjoyed it so much. Unfortunately on Tuesday it was completely different and somewhat disappointing (thick congealed sauce and poor chips).

Food took a while to arrive but we were OK chatting with friends. A very pleasant evening. Excellent waiting staff.

Booked a table on the balcony for 2 at 7pm. So we could have a chat and meet people. Arrived on time, table given to someone else. Stuck in corner by kitchen door. Large party next to us celebrating 80th. Eli wears hearing aids. Conversation almost impossible. Food average. Very disappointed as Eli was new to the village and wanted to try the pub. Not a great impression.
