We have eaten here several times now,and it is one of our favourite pubs. Staff are always very friendly and helpful. Food is first class and plenty of it. Very welcoming this time of year are the log fires. Overall highly recommended.

Spanking hot food, excellent scampi (and it WAS scampi, not pork by-products) & a jolly good steak in peppercorn sauce. Splendid chips. Top-class Harveys Best & Old, welcoming open fires that weren't just for show.

Three of us dined early and were greeted warmly and led to a comfy corner. The waiting staff were attentive and were soon had our food and drinks. The generous portions were well served and I particularly enjoyed my lobster in pasta parcels. We had crème brûlées for dessert - another winner. All at a reasonable price in a nice atmosphere - and comfortably warm against the chill outside.

Another great quiz night at the Anchor and the famous quiz master Barry Haffenden!

Very very disappointing. I would have complained on Sunday but young friends were treating us. No beef left & only 2 portions of lamb. Ok it was 2.30 but beef can be served cold next day if you’ve cooked too much! My lamb was chewy and difficult to cut. The roast potatoes were hard and the Yorkshire pudding soggy. The plate was swamped in gravy. I know you can do better as we’ve had weekday lunch and dinner often. Never again on Sunday. Anthea

We found you by accident. But enjoyed the lunch so much we came back. Was really looking forward to the meal. But unfortunately it was not as good as last time. There was no crackling on the pork as it was so foft. The Roast potatoes were so soft you could not call them roast potatoes. The meat and other veg were cooked very well. But we still had a nice time.
Nice atmosphere, quite full on a Wednesday night. Very cheerful, warm and friendly staff and service was great. Menu quite short and not very inspiring. Chunky chips the order of the day! Had a burger which was OK, but they should be offering fries to accompany. Could also have more options on the menu. A decent village pub but not one I'll be rushing back to. The Ram in Firle is only a ten minute drive!
