The only problem I would say was as we were sitting right next to the door that went into the kitchen you would get all the smells and smoke rush out everytime the door opened.

Great service, lovely pub, food ok, trend over substance slightly / would go back definitely.

Mushroom and blue cheese on bread a real disappointment compared to last visit. Last time the mushrooms were in a lovely sauce on a brown sourdough I believe. This time it was some chewy mushrooms, a bit of melted cheese on a very dry plain white piece of baguette.

We had the asparagus, ham and goats cheese starter. Quite large portions, delicious but a bit salty. The paella was more like risotto but lots of seafood and chorizo again large portion and too salty. My friend had the pasta which was also large and on the salty side. But he would have asked for a doggy bag but we were driving home to birmingham the next day. I ate all my seafood and chorizo and quite a lot of rice. Such a shame we come to Ringmer every Summer and always have a lunch at the Anchor but will give it a miss next year as the food was too salty.

This was are second visit here for a Sunday roast . This first time we came the roast was so good and the best one I’ve ever had out. So second I was it was hoping this was and one of! And most certainly wasn’t! Absolutely banging roast . We will be back
