We were warmly welcomed immediately upon arrival and shown to our table . Our host was most personable and came over as genuinely pleased to see us. Our menus were offered , without delay and the specials board read out, explained and recommendations made. We were offered drinks while we chose the food. Our friend requested chips , instead of mashed potatoes and our host altered the menu for them. Unfortunately, mashed potatoes arrived but was changed to chips graciously only a minute later . The service was impeccable with food and drinks arriving without delay. All the staff were equally happy, friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was great as the staff team all seemed to enjoy their work. The food was good. I had mushrooms with Stilton to start , followed by pie of the day. The pie was large and tasty . Thanks to the manager and staff for a most pleasant dining experience.

Great food, great ambience, had a really good night

Great meal with great service. We phoned in last minute to try and get a table for four to have Sunday roast due to a change of plan. They managed to fit us in even though they were really busy. Had a great meal with excellent service and well kept ales.
