The emphasis at the Black Horse is on quality food, all locally sourced, from high quality suppliers, the meat in fact being delivered from a butcher only a mile down the road. The theme for the food is varied, an excellent selection of traditional English dishes in keeping with the traditional countryside location of the Inn. The restaurant also offers an exciting selection of a la carter dishes and regularly changing specials, to keep the offering fresh and varied. The restaurant menu will really get your tastebuds going, and all of the dishes are lovingly prepared onsite by our talented brigade of trained chefs.

An 18th Century Inn, the Black Horse Inn has been a refuge, providing a welcome rest, food and sustenance, and more importantly watering weary travellers for hundreds of years. The selection of ale and wine is second to none, and testament to many years of experience providing excellent hospitality.

The ale and wine offering at the Black Horse, has a similar ethos to the food. To use locally sourced suppliers, Brewers and wineries to provide a wide and varied selection of products that are able to stand up against more mainstream competitors.

The food was very good, portions on the small side. Felt the tables could be cleaner and a little dusty.

We stayed with our 3 grandkids, room was clean, comfy and had plenty of room and everything you needed with plenty of hot water and big fluffy towels. The pub itself is stunning so olde world, full of charm with well cared for gardens and outdoor areas. The quality of homemade, tasty food for both dinner and breakfast is something I haven’t experienced for a long time - it truly was superb. We will definitely go back - thank you. Elaine (Eastbourne).

Good service. The food seemed okay until I ate something that tasted like mould. I did not say as we were having a good evening. Unfortunately, I became sick with severe vomiting and diarrhea shortly following my meal. This was very distressing and therefore I do not recommend this establishment.

Whilst covid is still with us I feel cutlery should not be put on table. Nor should unwanted items be removed unless they are washed again. Other establishments only bring cutlery required, wrapped in a serviette once an order is placed.

Service a bit slow, we waited ages for starter and then we got half way through and our main course was bought out, so they took it back and when it came out again my husbands steak was quite dry, also we had to put up with yapping dogs as we didn’t realise we were in a dog area, not what we expected for a quiet evening out!
