The emphasis at the Black Horse is on quality food, all locally sourced, from high quality suppliers, the meat in fact being delivered from a butcher only a mile down the road. The theme for the food is varied, an excellent selection of traditional English dishes in keeping with the traditional countryside location of the Inn. The restaurant also offers an exciting selection of a la carter dishes and regularly changing specials, to keep the offering fresh and varied. The restaurant menu will really get your tastebuds going, and all of the dishes are lovingly prepared onsite by our talented brigade of trained chefs.

An 18th Century Inn, the Black Horse Inn has been a refuge, providing a welcome rest, food and sustenance, and more importantly watering weary travellers for hundreds of years. The selection of ale and wine is second to none, and testament to many years of experience providing excellent hospitality.

The ale and wine offering at the Black Horse, has a similar ethos to the food. To use locally sourced suppliers, Brewers and wineries to provide a wide and varied selection of products that are able to stand up against more mainstream competitors.

Have a great visit staff always friendly and helpful Only negative was the over done shortbread with the brûlée In my opinion the brûlée didn’t need the baileys added

We visited on Sunday as a birthday meal for my husband…..The childrens cheeseburgers came without cheese, we asked if they could have cheese the waitress huffed and snatched the plates back! One adult a medium steak and it was served rare and another had roast lamb which the lamb was not only pink it was actually bleeding! Awful meal with awful service from the waitress however the manager did apologise and deducted the kids meal off the bill but I am sorry to say that we would not return!

We have been to the Black Horse several times now and have not been disappointed once. The food is always cooked to perfection and so tasty. I especially love the chicken burger with chips and slaw. Amazing! My husband and mum really love the Black Horse burger, and dad really enjoyed the gammon steak with egg and chips. Fantastic desserts and wonderful service from the staff. Really lovely and bubbly. We will be back soon.

Great food, good choice of food, very nice waiting staff but took too long for main courses to arrive and perhaps when we spilled a drink we should have had it replaced free of charge. Dog welcomed but the upstairs loft was quite tired in its feel, and since the pub wasn't at all full we could have been invited to sit downstairs which was much more homely. Only food complaint was that the croutons in the bouillabaise were very stale. But overall a good find, in lovely countryside, perfect for the middle of our walk.
