The emphasis at the Black Horse is on quality food, all locally sourced, from high quality suppliers, the meat in fact being delivered from a butcher only a mile down the road. The theme for the food is varied, an excellent selection of traditional English dishes in keeping with the traditional countryside location of the Inn. The restaurant also offers an exciting selection of a la carter dishes and regularly changing specials, to keep the offering fresh and varied. The restaurant menu will really get your tastebuds going, and all of the dishes are lovingly prepared onsite by our talented brigade of trained chefs.

An 18th Century Inn, the Black Horse Inn has been a refuge, providing a welcome rest, food and sustenance, and more importantly watering weary travellers for hundreds of years. The selection of ale and wine is second to none, and testament to many years of experience providing excellent hospitality.

The ale and wine offering at the Black Horse, has a similar ethos to the food. To use locally sourced suppliers, Brewers and wineries to provide a wide and varied selection of products that are able to stand up against more mainstream competitors.

Very enjoyable afternoon, we plan to return soon. We all had Sunday roast, i would suggest additional vegetable selection and the cut of Lamb contained a lot of fat.

Lovely stay at the Black Horse, made to feel very welcome from the lovely lady at check in, through to the many serving staff. We had breakfast, Sunday lunch and an evening meal and all of them were really good with attentive service and a very friendly atmosphere. Comfy night, rooms were great, everything supplied and so quiet - we slept like logs. Thank you, highly recommended

Warm welcome, shown directly to our table. Our drinks order was taken when seated. We had a wait of about ten minutes for our order to be taken, which was acceptable, the specials were explained, and we had a further wait of fifteen minutes for our food to arrive. We both had the Sunday lunch, which was excellent, large portions, and the food was hot. Overall a very pleasant dining experience, felt safe at all times. Very friendly staff, got the feeling that they were grateful for our custom. Would highly recommend, and definitely be returning.

Nice rustic Inn, although the Inn is dog friendly and is I suppose to be expected, the smell of dog does hit you when you walk into the Inn. Over a period you sort of get used to it, but occasionally you get a waft. The tables are wooden varnished which do leave them feeling sticky to the touch. Maybe table cloths or a table pad would be nice. The service from the girls is second to none very attentive and polite, always asking if everything is OK. The food is nice but not spectacular although a little expensive for what it is. The Inn is set in a lovely place overlooking the Kent downs with lots of seating inside and outside.
