The emphasis at the Black Horse is on quality food, all locally sourced, from high quality suppliers, the meat in fact being delivered from a butcher only a mile down the road. The theme for the food is varied, an excellent selection of traditional English dishes in keeping with the traditional countryside location of the Inn. The restaurant also offers an exciting selection of a la carter dishes and regularly changing specials, to keep the offering fresh and varied. The restaurant menu will really get your tastebuds going, and all of the dishes are lovingly prepared onsite by our talented brigade of trained chefs.

An 18th Century Inn, the Black Horse Inn has been a refuge, providing a welcome rest, food and sustenance, and more importantly watering weary travellers for hundreds of years. The selection of ale and wine is second to none, and testament to many years of experience providing excellent hospitality.

The ale and wine offering at the Black Horse, has a similar ethos to the food. To use locally sourced suppliers, Brewers and wineries to provide a wide and varied selection of products that are able to stand up against more mainstream competitors.

Food was average and the choices aren’t that great especially during the weekend. Looked at the floor and there was food there from a previous day. We used to love eating here, I’m afraid it’s not that appealing now.

Party of 4. We had drinks 1st and then all had roast dinners. Beer was good, the meat was very fatty, we had beef and lamb and there was only 1 small slice per meal. Ok, but not great.

We were disappointed to be told that two items on the menu were unavailable. The presence of a wedding party mingling on the terrace did not help the peacefulness we were hoping for.

We had a nice lunch which was delicious and then decided to order a desert that came as a recommendation from one of the gentlemen that worked there. The desert arrived and was sadly two dry biscuits sandwiched with a melted butter cream. When highlighting this to the waitress we were advised she would feedback to the chef and then returned to state that unfortunately it was the batch of biscuits that had been used. No alternative offered and no removal from the bill. This was extremely disappointing considering both my friend and I hadn’t even managed to eat one of the biscuits due to how dry they were and certainly didn’t warrant an £8.50 price tag. When we expressed our feelings to the waitress her response was “sorry I did try” it was basically yes we know but we’re not going to do anything about it. This ruined my experience of the restaurant and tainted what was originally a lovely lunch. Due to the lack of care and consideration I won’t be returning or recommending
