The food ambiance wascexcellent all five stars.one thing let it down dramatically which would definitely put me off recommending to friends and that is when we arrived I told bar staff I had a reservation..she told us where the table was and pointed to it (she was not exactly busy and could of showed us to the table) however we went over to where she pointed. It was absolutely disgraceful we almost left. The table was literally behind a table where a woman was sitting and an empty pram..the whole floor area was covered in food, dropped chips etc and disgusting. The girl sId to us just walk round it...we asked for another table but didn't say why as it should of been plain obvious. Really the woman who was sitting at the table should of been made to clear her own mess up not expect the bar staff to do it. Before we made our decision to carry on and stay there the food and floor was still a disgrace. Why do guests treat a lovely pub like this...at the same time staff should of cleared that sickly mess and not of pointed us to sit there. Do you know something..it wasn't worth mentioning it as the girl clearing round the table saw it ,it was that obvious. I don't think k I can take guests there again forthat reason..shame as staff seem nice

We really enjoyed our lovely “lunch in mugs” in the dirty boots bar with our new puppy (couldn’t believe how well-behaved she was for her first pub lunch). Thanks again for being so kind & welcoming. See you all soon xx

Lovely staff, even better food. The beer garden is great

The bar staff were exceptional and couldn’t do enough to help, even amending my booking as we were running late. The food however was below standard, which as the manager told everyone who would listen was due to the chef, this was very unprofessional and we did not need to hear about his staffing issues or that he works 14 hour days. These things should be dealt with privately and not in front of customers.

Reserved a table for Mothers day well in advance. Due to our elderly mother's walking difficulties (aged 87 & 79), I asked for a specific table close to the door (I totally get things are on request) but on arrival, found we had been allocated a table near the ladies toilet, nowhere near the entrance. With a constant banging door right behind us, where staff were going in and out. Had to ask for the music to be turned down, as music blasting out, over our table. I felt as though we were in a corridor. Never had an issue here before, hence wanting to spoil our mums for mothers day and take them somewhere nice. May be some time until we return. I was a bit gutted to be honest.

Having visited many years before I was expected excellence. Instead the service was slow and the food merely lukewarm. How the glorious has failed.

On arrival all seemed great. However, there were many complaints from other tables which made us apprehensive. We placed our order and 55 minutes later our meals arrived. Both well presented but my pie was cold so my husband had to eat his meal while I was waiting for mine to come back. I couldn’t eat the pie as the steak was plentiful but unchewable but the chips were AMAZING. So I ate them all and left the rest. My husbands fish and chips were okay but nothing special. The team worked hard and we’re very pleasant.
