I was disappointed with the food and prices in the Dark Horse. There were limited vegetarian choices and the choices on the online menu differed from the menu in the restaurant. When I asked for the vegan burrito I’d seen on the online dinner menu I was told it was only available at lunchtime. I had the goats cheese and beets for £10 and it was quite plain, not at all filling and very small in comparison to the fish dishes friends had. It was a slab of goats cheese and the size wasn’t matched or complemented by the size of pomegranates and beetroot. The fries my friends ordered were incredibly salty so disappointing. The service was quite slow. Although 2 of us had our wine delivered within an appropriate time, a friend’s wine had to be requested again and was still not delivered within an appropriate time. Although the fries portion was large for the price, the other dishes were small for the cost. Small dishes or tapas type dishes are usually priced below the £10 mark in other restaurants. The cost of the wine was extortionate at £11 a glass. We had asked for small glasses. However when paying the bill and questioning the £11 we were told they don’t do small glasses of wine, only medium. Although I received a free glass of wine after expressing my disappointment about the beets dish, I remain disappointed by the whole experience. It’s a shame as I have previously enjoyed the food and service when I went to the Dark Horse for brunch.

Brioche bun for burger was stale. Food on floor under table from previous diners. Better than this in the past.

Honestly outstanding place. Food was delicious, friendly service and all round brilliant little place. Cocktails were also excellent.

Cannot get over how overpriced the ‘corn ribs’ and ‘crispy cauliflower’ was. £9 for 3 tiny bits of cauliflower!!! I left hungry and feeling like I’d seriously overpaid for my ‘meal’. The cocktail was lovely but honestly wouldn’t come back for food. Seriously let down, there should be better vegan options on the menu that are more filling and that you aren’t overpaying for!

Lovely and attentive staff, with an excellent chef. Food was delicious and I like that they switch up the brunch menu every so often for variety.
We had a wonderful evening on Friday. Really lovely atmosphere, staff were very helpful and attentive and the food was fantastic! Such a great place to meet with friends for a relaxed evening. Would recommend 100%!
