I’ve been to The Deck before and always had excellent food but last Sunday was disappointing. The Sunday Roasts were cold (we asked to reheat) and even with reheating, it wasn’t very appetising (two of us had nut roasts, three of us had beef roasts) and one of the meals was delayed which meant one person sat not eating. Whilst it’s in a great location for post walks and I’ve had good food there before, I wouldn’t consider going back which is a shame.

There were a few issues in the kitchen on Sunday, however, the staff, as ever, were helpful and courteous and the food was excellent.

Great place, food was lovely and of good quality. The service was very good and the staff very friendly and welcoming you. We had breakfast, & are coming back in a few weeks for lunch.

The service was not what we were expecting, considering we’ve heard good reviews from others. We were left disappointed and deflated. Some of the party had just arrived at 11am when the table was booked for, and were still taking off their coats when the server came over to take drinks orders. They hadn’t had a chance to sit and look at the menu! It took a while for our food order to be taken and food came out nearly an hour after we arrived with no explanation to why it took so long when other tables who arrived after us, had received their food before us. The food was tasty but on the small side, we felt hungry after waiting for so long. What was concerning, we saw a server drop cutlery on the floor in the main restaurant near the till/bar area - a main thoroughfare, she then picked it up and put on a table ready for new customers without cleaning it! This really put us off, considering the times we live in and how important it is for cleanliness. This was our first visit to The Deck for our friends birthday, the experience has put us off so wont be rushing back.

Soooo good to be back after several months absence . A delightful brunch .
We were down from Reading for a walk by the sea and lunch. We could not have found better. Just what we wanted!
