The staff were delightful but service was very slow. There was a lack of children’s options the food was ok the burger was tasteless, steak was over cooked and not a nice cut the other family members had pie which they enjoyed plenty of meat. But overall we weren’t blown away with our visit when everybody raves about the place we’re yet to be wowed I’m afraid.

This was a terrible experience for us. We have been twice before and were so impressed with the food that we brought my parents for a present. Our starter was fine. Our main courses were awful. The 'steak and ale pie' was burnt (despite the excuses that it was made with dark beer), the meat and the gravy were such a strong and salty flavour, they were not pleasant at all. One of our group had scampi and chips. The plate arrived and looked a joke (for a fine dining pub). It was piled high with potato wedges, which filled much more than half the plate - even the hungriest of diners wouldn't have managed all that potato. I shared a fruit crumble which came hot with ice cream on top and a side of custard??? Either or, i would expect, or both on the side to choose from. My father had the parfait and couldn't get his spoon through the nut brittle base which was stuck to the plate and rock hard. I have never been so disappointed and embarrassed. I spent the whole day explaining that it had been really good food when i last attended :(

Had a great Family Get together at The Dog on Saturday. They made us feel very welcomed and we all had a great time. Just wish we had all preordered desserts as they ran out but there was just over 30 of us !

We had an amazing evening at The Dog the evening before Mother's Day, my Mum, sister and niece had a pre-Mother's Day celebration. The food was amazing. My Mum has a number of food intolerances and she combined the Cod with Asparagus and Broccoli from the vegetarian dinner and loved every bit of it. The food was as good as the best I've had in many restaurants around the world and we were made to feel very welcome and well taken care of. We will be back soon! Thank you for a wonderful evening!

we had an excellent meal to celebrate my wife's birthday. All three courses were tasty, well-prepared and much enjoyed. I required gluten-free food and was a good selection.. Thank you.

Booked a table for a Monday lunchtime, and was phoned up on the Sunday before to inform us the A la Carte Menu was not available on the Monday. Decided still to go ahead with the booking and was not dissapppointed at all in the pub menu. Excellent range of starters, mains and desserts. The service from the Sunday phone call to the seating itself was wonderful. The middle restaurant did also not disappoint. Right number of tables per space. Would definitely go back and recommend the Dog to family and Friends.
Fabulous Easter Sunday family meal. Never disappointed with our visit.
