The Hayloft is a 19th century hay barn that was an intrinsic part of the spice route between Penzance and London. Having been a restaurant for 40 years, the Burns family bought The Hayloft in 2016 and have been renovating the building back to former glory.

Food was very nice although my main dish could have been hotter, portion size was small and food was expensive

Lovely, relaxed atmosphere. The food was excellent, especially the puddings. The children’s menu was really good value and enough choice to satisfy our three girls. We had a great meal and the kids thoroughly enjoyed it.

Sorry but the burgers and burger buns were very over cooked. The lamp rump was more fat than meat. Haddock and Chips was nice though.

We felt the deserts were not as well balanced in taste as the excellent main courses. Given the limits put on you by Covid you did your best. The background music was at a level which was too quiet to hear properly but loud enough to be irritating. There was one particular track which seemed to have a clarinet hitting a particularly high note each bar but we could not hear any of the other instruments so it was a just a succession of squeaks!

Cleanliness was because we were pestered by wasps. Not really Hayloft fault but was annoying.
