The Hayloft is a 19th century hay barn that was an intrinsic part of the spice route between Penzance and London. Having been a restaurant for 40 years, the Burns family bought The Hayloft in 2016 and have been renovating the building back to former glory.

Glad we had the eat out to help out deal otherwise would not have been impressed with paying £26 for the steak. Do still think £16 is a lot for sirloin and very few chips. Staff were very good and food came quickly but we left still hungry.

Limited menu From what we ordered the food was very average and steak was very fatty. Had booked to go with friends next week but have now changed our mind. Not somewhere where I will be rushing back too

We enjoyed visiting your restaurant. We are on holiday so not sure of the area. Whilst the food was good, the service was very slow and we had to wait a long time between courses. It is my belief that this was due to the current situation and perhaps you haven’t got a full compliment of staff. The staff who served us were very polite and you observed strict social distancing measures. All the best for the future.

Had a change of table to start with . Sat next to draughty window . We understand why windows and doors were open because of Covid precautions, but was still chilly . We moved to another seat downstairs. To cut a long story short ,we only ordered a main meal and waited over an hour for it . The waitress did thank us for our patience . Due to the long wait for main meal , we decided not to bother with dessert. Paid bill and left disappointed. First night out since March was not what we expected . Lastly, with toilet doors left open ,there was a slight smell wafting out which is not what you want at a restaurant. PS , Wife’s lamb meal was very fatty
