The Hayloft is a 19th century hay barn that was an intrinsic part of the spice route between Penzance and London. Having been a restaurant for 40 years, the Burns family bought The Hayloft in 2016 and have been renovating the building back to former glory.

Very pleased with our meal and general experience but very disappointed that Sunday lunch is advertised at £13 on the Sunday lunch menu only to find it was £16 when we visited, questioned this and was told it was £3 for Mother’s Day, why is this?? It’s not advertised anywhere it was more expensive or advertised it was a different menu for Mother’s Day. Not sure we would return because of this… Also the amount of roast potatoes and cauliflower given to us in the tray for the table was very lacking, we only had 2 potatoes each. What we had was very tasty, we just didn’t have very much of it.

My 84 yr old Mum only wanted 1 piece of beef as she doesn't eat a lot but it was really pink & 1/3 of it was fat. Veg seemed like left-over from day before, dry/chewy/burnt. No-one checked on us until we stacked the plates ourselves to show we'd finished long before! Very disappointed as fabulous family meal last September!

Very nice meal at a very nice establishment, my only complaint would be paying 40p for a dash of lime, it’s not about the money, it’s the principal as beer cost more than lime therefore the addition of lime instead of a full pint should not be a charge

Roast dinner we had was absolutely fabulous, just a slight fault, that adjoining two Hungary males, wish there were more Roasties I was left with a small one..

The food was lovely, although I found my dinner to be a little too salty for my liking. I do enjoy a lot of flavour, but the bacon in my haddock dish was just a bit too much. However, lovely place with great service. I will be back to try another dish. ☺️
