The Julijana Restaurant is situated in Bled’s oldest hotel, the elegant Grand Hotel Toplice. The restaurant can only accommodate some 20 people, which gives it a uniquely intimate character. Thanks to its intimate atmosphere and enchanting views of the lake, the Julijana Restaurant is popular with couples celebrating their anniversary and many a man has proposed to his bride-to-be here.
On the lake shore
Right on the lake shore, shaded by tall chestnut trees, you will find the Julijana Restaurant terrace where you can also enjoy the original Bled cream cake. The menu is adapted to the seasons and the chef is always happy to recommend the specialties of the day. The menu is complemented by a large selection of top Slovenian wines.
Simon Bertoncelj is one of the younger generation of Slovenian chefs. He strives for perfection and harmony of dishes and flavours and successfully combines traditional Slovenian cuisine with modern techniques and thus always impresses even the most demanding quests who visit Bled.
Simon Bertoncelj is a member of the Slovenian Culinary Olympics team and an important member of the chefs’ section within the Tourism and Hospitality Chamber of Slovenia. He works on perfecting his skills at top restaurants.
He had the opportunity to learn at one of the restaurants owned by the world-famous chef Gordon Ramsey, he trained in Lille with French chef Marc Meurin, holder of 2 Michelin stars and worked with German chef Bobby Bräuer, holder of 18 Gault Millau points and 3 toques.
