Visited The Anchor for a friend's birthday meal and have to say the waitress was amazing. Lovely atmosphere sitting in the snug and waiting for food wasn't long. Not keen on the menu but that's a personal preference. All in all it was a really lovely evening and definitely worth a trip back

Cant fault the quantity of the roast dinner. Would like to have the vegetables on a separate side dish so there is a choice on which veg I like. Other than that was please will the lunch.

I thought the real ale choice very poor, I know it’s a Harvey’s pub but only one ale. Really.

My dessert was inedible, I had the waffle, it was so hard I couldn’t get the spoon through it. We were put in the snug, and got forgotten. Service was slow. The dessert board was on our table ages before an order was taken. Our dessert plates were never cleared away. The starters were very nice, main course was ok. What also spoiled our experience was the behaviour of other customers. There was some sort of game going on, badly positioned so it blocked access to both the restaurant and the toilets. Despite repeatedly saying excuse me please those playing and watching didn’t want to move, just starring and remaining in the way, it was extremely uncomfortable.

From the moment we entered, to the moment the door closed behind us, we had an extremely positive and tasty experience. Our server could mot have been nicer and more efficient, the Sunday lunch was plentiful and tasty and the ambience just made it a wonderful Sunday afternoon.
